Ralf Habermann, Medical Director and Attending Physician

Ralf Habermann, M.D. is a Board Certified Geriatrics and President of the Tennessee Association of Long Term Care Physicians.  Dr. Habermann is also a certified hospice and pain management physician.  He is assisted by in-house full time licensed Nurse Practitioners. The program and services provided at Bethany are closely monitored by this physician and staff which are based in one of Nashville’s leading hospitals.

The Whitcomb Family

The Whitcomb Family has been an integral part of Bethany since its beginning in 1983 and became sole owners in 1997.  CEO Emily Whitcomb is a licensed Nursing Home Administrator and member of THCA and TNAHSA.  She actively visits Capitol Hill on behalf of our residents and employees Emily began her career in healthcare as a nursing assistant more than 30 years ago.  She has served in various positions of leadership, and became the administrator of Trevecca Helth & Rehab in 1994 and subsequently at Bethany Health & Rehab.  She remains very involved in patient care and has been renamed “snooper visor” by her employees her diligent care and watchful eye on all things reguarding patient care at the facility.

Laura Harris, Administrator

Laur Harris began working for Avalon Health Care, Bethany Health Care’s parent company, in 2004 as a clerk in the business office.  She worked her way up through the ranks to become the Billing Office Manager,  a position she held for six years.  In 2011 Laura accepted an opportunity to train with the owner of Bethany Health Care, Emily Whitcomb to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator.  For the next year and a half Laura was trained and worked in every department of Bethany Health Care, becoming a certified Nurse Technician and Certified Activities Director in the process.  This training helped to give Laura an important level of understanding of what it is like to work in a skilled facility, which in turn built a mutual level of trust and respect between her and her coworkers.  Laura passed her administrators exam and took over as Bethany’s administrator in January 2013.  She hopes to continue the family atmosphere and high level of care that has become standard at Bethany by providing open communication with the residents, their families and the entire staff. Nina Monroe, Director of Nursing Nina Monroe began working as an RN in 1987.  Her experience in nursing has always been in highly demanding positions,  from Surgical ICU at a Vetrans Hospital to being Director of Nursing at three local acute care hospitals.  In 1999 she accepted a position as Regional Administrator with the State of Tennessee Department of Health overseeing surveys and inspections of skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes.  This was the time when she first became aware of Bethany Health Care and owner Emily Whitcomb.  “I was always impressed with Emily’s hands-on work style and good reputation for care and physical rehabilitation in her facilities.”  Nina’s goals for Bethany are to promote a feeling of pride for the staff by hiring experienced caring people, providing open communication and continuity of care.  This allows families and residents to get to know the staff caring for them and encourages a feeling of trust and friendship.  Above all Nina strives to approach daily tasks with an attitude if inprovement and quality of care.
